About the residents:

STEPHANIE JIMENEZ is a writer based in Long Island City, Queens. Her fiction and non-fiction have appeared in the Guardian, O! the Oprah Magazine, Joyland Magazine, The New York Times, and more. She is a former Fulbright recipient and a graduate of Scripps College in Claremont, California. Her debut novel, THEY COULD HAVE NAMED HER ANYTHING, was published on August 1, 2019 (Little A), and she recently completed her second book, MY FAITHFUL FOLLOWER. During her residency at The Resort, Stephanie will be working on her next novel: a modern retelling of Aladdin, set in Jackson Heights, Queens.

CAROLYN LAU is a writer based in Flushing, Queens and an active participant in the New York literary community. They will spend their residency exploring Queer and Feminist politics in their poetry, and writing about violence against Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. They’re looking forward to sharing space and connecting with other Queens-based writers at The Resort.

KC TROMMER is a poet and essayist based in Jackson Heights. She’ll spend her residency working on her collection of ekphrastic poems—poems that explore works of art—about female artists and female artists of color. For the past year, KC has been working full time from home as well as acting as a fifth grade teacher for her son, so she’s looking forward to making progress on her writing in the dedicated space The Resort will provide during her off hours.

KATIE WINKELSTEIN-DUVENECK is an Astoria-based writer and teacher. She will spend her time at the Resort working on two personal essays that have been simmering in her for years. Katie is a teacher who works tirelessly for her students and other writers, and her residency will provide much needed space away from her many commitments so that she can dedicate herself to moving forward with her own writing projects.
